The story takes place in the early years of the Republic of China. A murder occurred in a small tavern. Lin Jiyao, the son of squire Lin Ziqing, was found dead in the bed of Zhenniang, the owner of the tavern. The biggest suspect was the owner Zeng Jiaju.
